Dexter History: THE DEXTER COMPANY
The Dexter Company
located in Bucyrus, Ohio at 4933 Stetzer Road, and was founded in 1977 by Bob and Dot
Hubble of Bucyrus, Ohio. The company was originally called Dexter Drier Company dealing in
grain dryers and parts. In 1985, The Dexter Company began selling snowplow and grader
blades to municipalities. Bob Hubble was very familiar with this new product line, having
been the President of Shunk Manufacturing, which manufactured replacement
cutting edges for highway equipment. Over the past 30 years many new product lines have been added. In 1989, The Dexter Company purchased a TIGER dealership in Tallmadge, Ohio. This dealership was staffed until 1992, when the operation was moved to Stoney Hydraulics in Galion, Ohio. In continuing to grow, The Dexter Company built a new complex in 1995 at its present location, 4933 Stetzer Road, Bucyrus, Ohio. As the business grew, a second building was erected in 1996, which included room for a sandblasting and painting facility. Dexter provides sales, service, parts and complete installation for more than 60 product lines. The company installs truck equipment, including dump bodies, snowplows, salt spreaders and complete winter maintenance equipment; as well as repair and service. Sales and installation of hydraulic systems, various lighting systems, and tarp systems are also offered. The Dexter Company has been a TIGER Mower dealership since 1989. The Dexter Company is the only authorized TIGER dealer in Ohio and has been in the top ten dealers worldwide since 1998. The TIGER line offers boom mowers, side mount and rear mowers in Rotary or Flail type. TIGER has many attachments including ditch cleaning and loader attachments for any type of tractor available. The sandblasting and painting division evolved in order to become a full service facility for our customers as well as serving the general public. Dexter offers a complete line of construction and road maintenance equipment, including power brooms, road drags, paint stripers, road signs and posts as well as warning lights. A complete line of cutting edges, blades and teeth are offered for various types of equipment. The primary customer base for Dexter is Townships, Counties and Cities. However contractors, farmers, and the general public are more than welcome at the business Bob and Dot Hubble still have active rolls in the Dexter Company on a part time basis, while enjoying a full time retirement schedule. The second generation, Al and Jan (Hubble) Fulton have taken over the daily operation. The Dexter Company is growing and looking forward to the future and to continuing to serve all their customers and friends. The entire Dexter Company family prides themselves on communication, customer service, quality parts and equipment. The Dexter Company family includes: Al and Jan Fulton; managerial and operational responsibilities; Dan Naufzinger; parts manager, Larry Stoney; service and installation. The Dexter Company outside sales staff consists of Mike Hubble in the Northeast Ohio region, and Dave Wolery in Northwest Ohio.
